Additional Details and Sponsorship Info:

Each grade level will run/walk laps around the lake at Forest Hill Park. One lap around the lake is approximately half a mile and students will have the opportunity to ask for sponsorship from family and friends for each lap completed (or in one single donation if preferred). Soon you will find a sponsor sheet coming home with your student (see example attached). This is a great way for students to engage with community members and explain all the great things we are doing at school. Please return the sponsor sheet with donations filled in by the day of the event, March 18. It will return home with your student following the event with the number of laps your student completed so they can collect the correct amount of donations. We also have an online donation page set up for out of town sponsors: https://phssapta.memberhub.com/store/items/673717

Should teachers choose, classes will have the opportunity to have lunch by the lake immediately following their run. Teachers will be in contact prior to the event to get a school lunch count; but you are able, please plan on sending a lunch from home. This will make it easier on our volunteers and cafeteria staff that will need to deliver school lunches down to the lake. Additionally, water stations will not be provided at Forest Hill Park, so please make sure your student has their own water bottle. We are an environmental school working to reduce our environmental impact, so water bottles are the best option.

Volunteer Info:

We will need plenty of volunteers for each grade level to make this event happen! Volunteers must be masked & will be required to check in at the main office with a valid state ID before making their way down to the lake at Forest Hill Park. Please also note, volunteers should be able to hike down to the lake and be able to stand for 30-40 minutes. Volunteer duties may include: marking off laps completed, general first aid, assisting with lunch, walking students back up to school for bathroom breaks.

Please be on the lookout for more information from your student’s home room teacher. And feel free to reach out with any questions!
