Michael Kucera
Michael Kucera is an experienced real estate investor, property manager, and Realtor® but first and foremost he is a devoted partner and proud father of two amazing daughters.
Colette (9) and Ellis (7) are thriving students at Patrick Henry School of Science and Art, where his wife Penny is hospitality chair for the PTA. Michael finds identity in his dedication to family, friends, and community more so than his
occupation.
Having lived in the Forest Hill area since 2005, he is extremely passionate about his neighborhood for its juxtaposition of city and nature, and for the deep bonds
he has built among his neighbors. His gregarious personality and engagement in the community has made him very well connected throughout RVA.
Michael was raised in a small town on the banks of the Rappahannock River between Urbanna and Deltaville, and considers himself an avid outdoorsman. He can often be found mountain biking the JRPS trails, kayaking the James River, or sailing on the Chesapeake Bay. He is also passionate about the arts, having earned a BFA in photography and filmmaking from VCU in 2003. He and Penny are members of Broadway in Richmond and frequent live music, theater, and art shows throughout the city.
Michael’s professional career is a reflection of his varied interests in media, fine arts, outdoor sports, and architecture. He has worked in video production for WCVE Community Idea Stations, Ground Zero Media, The Martin Agency, and The Rappahannock Record. He built a successful career in advertising sales and marketing with Waterway Guide Publications, traveling the length of the US East Coast annually to build relationships with marine-industry professionals and tourism and economic development executives. The seasonality of that sales position allowed him the opportunity to invest in real estate during the winter months, building a portfolio of nearly a dozen rental units.
In late 2022, Michael left his advertising sales and marketing career to focus fully on real estate endeavors – as an investor and property manager, and also as a
Realtor® helping buyers and sellers navigate a complicated and challenging marketplace. This career change allows him the flexibility to be more engaged Michael is now seeking more ways to give back to his community through partnerships that utilize his varied skillset. He hopes that his background in media, sales, marketing, real estate investing, and property management will be an asset to organizations looking for an enthusiastic and motivated self-starter.
