Please join us for PHSSA's Fall Festival!
When: Sunday, October 26th, 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Where: PHSSA - 3411 Semmes Avenue, Richmond, VA 23225
Who: We'd love to see current students and families, alumni and their families, teachers and staff and their families, and any community supporters!
Admission is free! When you make a donation (suggestion of $5 per person), or purchase raffle tickets, you help us support our Mighty Oaks and PHSSA teachers and staff.
Adult Raffle: During the festival, we'll have a raffle for adults with drawings throughout the event! Tickets are $1 each. We have some amazing prizes like PHSSA swag, bundles from local businesses, and gift cards to delicious local restaurants! You must be present to win.
Student Experiences Raffle: Our spectacular teachers and staff are offering some amazing student experiences! Each student will receive one free raffle ticket at school. Additional tickets can be purchased for $1 each at the festival or Wednesday, October 22nd from 2:30 - 3:30 in the front parking lot. Winners will be drawn at the end of the Festival and notified via Class Dojo. Students do not need to be present to win.
Activities:
- Trunk or Treat - Sign up here to decorate a vehicle for trunk or treat. The PTA will provide the candy. $2 per round. Please bring your own bag for the trunk-or-treat candy and trinkets.
- Screen Prints - Visit the StudioTwoThree print truck and make your own art! We will have a special PHSSA 15th Anniversary graphic. You can bring your own bag for this project or use our paper. We will have blank canvas bags for purchase for $5.
- Bounce house: $2 per 5 minute bounce.
- Arts and crafts table: free
- Spooky photo booth for personal photos with phones or cameras: free.
- Learn about and support the Students in Environmental Action clubhouse!
Food:
- Hamburgers: $4
- Hotdogs: $3
- Spooky drink with reusable cup: $2 + free refills
- Chips: $1
- Water: $1
- Chili: $3 (toppings included)

Student Experiences Raffle
Our spectacular teachers and staff have offered some amazing experiences for our Mighty Oaks!
Each student will receive one free ticket! Additional tickets can be purchased for $1 each at the festival or 2:30 - 3:30 on Wednesday, October 22nd in the front parking lot.
For experiences that take place outside of school hours, caregivers are responsible for transportation.
- Pizza on the Playground with Ms. P: Pizza on the playground with Ms. Phillips.
- Be School Counselor for a Day: Have you ever wanted to help your friends, make big decisions, and spread kindness around PHSSA? It's your time to read, listen, and lift others up! Let's make PHSSA the kindest place it can be! One winner will get to:
- Make the morning announcements
- Hand out positive notes to classmates
- Sit in the special counselor's chair
- Plan a fun kindness activity for your class
- Mini Golf with Ms. Michael: Mini golf trip to The Park with Mrs. Michael. Winner can bring two friends that are students at PHSSA. Caregivers are responsible for transportation to and from The Park.
- Bracelet Making with Ms. Michael: Three winners! Bracelet making session with Mrs. Michael after school. Caregivers are responsible for transportation home from school.
- Crossroads Date with Charlie & Ms. Shrader: Ice cream date to Crossroads with Ms. Shrader and Charlie on a nice day. Caregivers will be responsible for transportation home after school.
- Make Sourdough and Tea with Ms. Marunde: Over the course of two days, we will prepare and bake two loaves of sourdough bread.
Day 1: 1 hour at Mrs. Marundé’s home to prepare two loaves
Day 2: 1 hour at Mrs. Marundé’s home to bake two loaves (one to take home) One caregiver must be present the entire time for both days. Caregiver must also be willing to be flexible with timing as it’s dependent on how the sourdough behaves. Time will most likely be evening (6-7pm) for Day 1, and morning (9-10am) for Day 2. While bread bakes you will make tea blends with Mrs. Marunde that you will be able to take home. - Crossroads Date with Ms. Luhmann: Crossroads date with Ms. Luhmann and one friend then a walk in the park. Caregiver will be responsible for transportation.
- Chess with Mr. Fisher: Chess experience lesson after school with Mr. Fisher. Caregiver will be responsible for transportation home.
- Visit the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts with Ms. Chamblin: One winner and two friends after school one day to explore together will get to explore all things art with PHSSA's art teacher! Caregiver will be responsible for transportation to and from the Museum.
- VCU Basketball Experience: Go to VCU men's basketball game with Mrs. Tyree! Student can bring two guests. Caregivers are responsible for transportation to and from the game.
- Picnic with Jerry Banana (class turtle): Three winners! Hang out with Ms. York and Mr. Thornton after school. Snacks, drinks, and Jerry Banana to be provided! Caregivers responsible for transportation home.
- Principal's Experience with Ms. Hudson: One students will spend 2-3 hours shadowing the principal as a learning partner. Student will get to use a radio!
- Lunch with the Principal: One student will choose a favorite local spot to order lunch and enjoy 30 minutes to an hour with Principal Hudson.
- Movie Moment with Ms. Hudson - One student will select a film from November 2025-June 2026 to go and see with Ms. Hudson at Bowtie Cinemas. This would also include time in the new arcade. The student can also bring a school-aged friend. Caregivers responsible for transportation to and from the movie location.
- After-school movie and pizza party with Mr. DeVaughn for the winner's grade level: The winner will choose the movie, pending approval from the administration. The movie will be shown on 12/9/25. Caregivers responsible for transportation home after the party.
